  • What are your plans during the summer months when the current leagues have ended?

We’ve been working with a lot of rights holders, a lot of clubs around the globe focussing first on UK teams especially in the championship and league one, and also tried to sign a couple in League 2. We then expanded to other countries in Europe and we’re having conversations really in every major league across the world on every continent, whether that’s in latin america, asia as well. We’re hoping to bring more clubs to the platform to have some sort of continuity this summer.

We hope to be able to share news about these clubs very soon and make official announcements! In the meantime, we have plans to develop the game, bringing a lot of fixes, and new features to the game for the start of the next European season in August.

  • When do you anticipate launching “Tournaments”, the game mode where people can win prizes based on where they finish on the leaderboard?

We plan on launching Tournaments before the start of the next season since it’s our top priority feature, but don’t have an exact date yet! We’ve just started the design of it and the art production should also start soon.

  • When and how can we buy the Champs token?

We decided to focus on the live beta and the game first and then bring everything around the token a little bit later. We’re super happy with how our launch has gone this past month, and we’re working on making the $champ available outside of the game as well, as that has always been our goal. Our goal is that players can deposit the $Champ from outside of the game, from inside the game, and take the $Champ they earned in game and exchange it elsewhere as well. We will release the $CHAMP token directly on an exchange with associated liquidity.

  • You said you are going to launch another sport, what is it and when do you think that will be?

We did tease a bit about that, yes! FRIDAY MAY 20th is the big announcement day. You read it here first (let’s call this a little hidden Easter egg ;)

  • I feel that there will always be negative feedback regarding pack releases as you won’t ever be able to provide enough packs to meet demand. How do you intend to manage that?

Since these have been our first pack launches ever, we didn’t really know exactly what the demand would end up being! We were so happily surprised to see how many packs sold out nearly instantly! We will adjust the offer to make sure that we are not too low compared to the demand, but not above it either. Having less supply than the demand ensures that what you have in your wallet and the cards you possess have their value that is really preserved because we are not releasing too many NFTS in circulation. The marketplace allows players to buy, trade and sell their cards so there are many possibilities to get cards post pack releases as well, but we are being careful about keeping the secondary marketplace prices in check and that goes through balancing supply and demand.

  • What have you learnt from past pack drops and what will you do differently moving forward?

We are still in Beta mode and learning along the way by using the feedback of our players. Whenever there are bugs, we work quickly and efficiently to fix them as soon as possible! The packs go live now in intervals, to prevent congestion.

  • Tell us more about partners you work with? Do you also work with great football players?

We work closely with Polygon and ecosystem guilds. We are working day to day with our clubs to spread the word to their community and to know how to engage them but as well to educate them because some of them don’t know about NFTS so our goal with our partners clubs is to make sure that everyone understands the value of Ultimate Champions and to onboard them. We work with fan clubs as well, and plan on giving more and more access to tickets and amazing merchandise of our clubs to our community! We have been working with influencers and agencies like LinkupTV and BAYY throughout our Uni Tour in the UK, organizing real-life fun events around football! We plan on continuing to involve football players in the game, and giving our players access to some great opportunities soon.

  • Are you happy with the scoring matrix and the way points represent the performance of the players on the pitch? Or do you assume the possibility it will be changed in the future? If so, in which areas?

We’re quite proud of our scoring system because it’s very detailed and also it rewards the different positions on the field. Our initial objective was to make sure that even a defensive midfielder could get a great score as opposed to other fantasy games where it’s quite hard to have that for example so we’re happy on the basis of the scoring system but we know we still have a lot to improve. We’ve already fixed some core bugs that were present in the beginning, and there will be some more tweaks to do as we go, but we are very happy with the basis of it!

  • Do you consider the current user interface as a more or less final version or do you have plans for a larger redesign?

One of our core axes of improvement is the mobile responsiveness for the entire user interface moving forward in the next few months. We’re very happy with how the UI is on a PC right now, the UX is quite good too - but we do definitely want to improve a lot on how the game responds on mobile browsers.

  • How do you intend to deal with Opta mistakes?

We have a great relationship with Opta, it’s been a pleasure to work with them for the past few months already. We have a great personal contact and we are aiming to improve that even further with the technical contact that we will have with them. Meaning that every time an issue will arise (which happened in the last gameweek, for example with a wrong assist in a Romanian game) we will report it to Opta and they will try to correct it during the gameweek.

  • Are there any dates on when more clubs will be added?

Signing new clubs is our top priority — especially signing new clubs that will be active this summer! A lot is happening behind the scenes to make it happen. Due to the nature of the deals and the industry, we don’t have details that we can share with our community yet but it’s looking quite promising to have clubs that will play this summer and keep Ultimate Champions thriving!

  • Can we expect better search features within the game?

Yes, it is definitely something we are developing at the moment — a search feature that’s more powerful than just searching your athlete by name in the marketplace. We plan to have a search feature that you can already see a bit in the header, it’s just that it’s not functioning at the moment. In the near future, you will be able to search any athlete in the game and access his profile, as well as search other Ultimate Champions players and view their different collections.

  • Can we expect functionality of direct offers between managers?

We’ve seen this suggested a few times and think it’s a great idea, so of course it’s on the road map. It is on the list of new features we want to implement, but our top priorities at the moment are the upcoming game modes and the mobile version.

  • When will we see extra utility for epic/mythic/unique cards?

Adding the Tournament mode will add a lot of extra utility for the rare cards within the game. Right now they only give you performance bonus in the leagues — which we know is not really enough to justify a high price for the time being, but it’s been publicly known for some time that we plan to have tournaments which will add the utility for those cards to register teams in high divisions of tournaments and therefore access better rewards.

That’s why the Tournament mode is such a high priority at the moment for us: we want players to be able to register multiple teams (and not just one team in the leagues), as well as have a good perceived value of having those those rare cards. However, we don’t want it to be a feature that is exclusive only to those with big collections either: the lower divisions will be quite accessible, where you will be able to play with mostly commons and a little amount of epics. Moving from that, we will then create the divisions above with that same progressive mindset, so that as soon as your collection progresses you can also progress in those divisions.

The plan isn’t only to have the rarities as the the divisions for the leagues, for that’s part of it, but we can also think about some other fun things like tournaments for certain championships, like just Romania for example, or for certain types of cards: under 23s is a common one. These will just be fun ways to make more of the cards, even the common ones, super useful.

  • Will there be new season club specific packs for every team?

We’d like to do that, although it’s a bit of a stretch to expect 50 different packs to 50 different clubs at the start of the new season. There will definitely be some exciting things coming with the start of the new season, and we’ll presumably want to get some of the new season cards out to players. But exactly how that’s going to happen is not for sure yet.! It depends a little bit on the team, and for example, how many teams we are releasing at once. If it’s a full league, for example, maybe there’ll be a league pack instead of a single club pack.

  • Can we expect more prizes based on the position in the Game-week like in GW7 and do you consider this as a permanent functionality?

At the moment the leaderboard rewards are actually similar to how the Tournaments feature will work, with the rewards being based on leaderboards.

We plan to still create unique events such as these in the future so for leagues we may consider things similar to this. If you have ideas, drop them in the discord! In regards to this one specifically, we can’t say we’re planning to do it regularly, but you can always expect some unique events if you keep up with the announcements.

  • When will the substitute feature become active?

ETA is in about 2 weeks time! So between May 30th and and June 3rd. We’re super excited to release the feature: once it’s active, you will have three substitute spots available to fill when you are building a team. If an athlete from your main team does not play, meaning they get a score of zero because they didn’t enter the pitch, the score of the substitute with the same position will be taken into account instead. This will help prevent the DNP frustration within certain game-weeks!

  • What will be the usability of MGC tokens beside purchase of basic packs?

There may be a wide variety of things in the future that are available for MGC. It’s a decision we have to make every time we put something on the sale. You can actually buy the normal jumbo packs when they’re up, for MGC as well.

MGC is a way of giving players the possibility to progress, extend, and buy some little things every week, even when they don’t have the best performance. It really is there to help everyone that plays as a free to play to actually be able to gather more and more common cards to reach the higher thresholds.

  • Do you plan leagues just for Epic,Mythic, Unique cards? Or do you plan separate Leagues by Nation leagues?

We really imagined the leagues as a an entirely free to play game mode and it will always be the case moving forward. Meaning that in the leagues you will always be able to register a team with any type of rarity: commons, epics, mythics, the uniques — because it’s really the entry point to the game in order to start winning more cards and progress.

When do you plan to launch the tokens on exchanges?

We are taking great care of how we want to release the $CHAMP token. Many people that know the crypto industry, know that you have to have a good market conditions for a token to work. You also need to build up a good communication around it for it to be successful. So that will be our main point of focus, to make sure that we do manage to get those before we are releasing the token. We will continue to communicate about it as we know more!

  • When is the referral program starting ?

We definitely want to have a referral program, so you can be sure of that happening sometime soon! We know it’s great for acquisition. It’s great for existing players to get rewarded by bringing in their friends and so on. Since it’s a feature that is just a win-win for everyone, it will get implemented for sure once other priorities have been checked off. When you refer people, you want to refer them to a good game. So we really want to focus on that.

Making the game as good as it can be, first thing first.

Thanks for all of the questions! More to come in the next weeks!
