Buy-Back Process Update

Dear Champs, we’re back with some updates on our Buy-Back process for the Virsliga, Veikkausliiga, and Besta Deildin leagues 🚀!

The objective for today is to share with you the following info:

1. Process

Card Booster Burner 🔥

We’re opting to use the ‘card booster’ (or burner as we also like to call it) for the buy-back process.

For a set duration, you will have the opportunity to burn the cards of the Virsliga, Veikkausliiga, and Besta Deildin leagues and get compensated in a progressive manner.

We opted to use the burner feature to create a net positive for the impacted players:

* You will retain your collection score, ensuring that your Summer league purchases continue to be recognized and valued.

* It offers the ability to boost the condition of other cards in your collection, enhancing their longevity and usability.

To facilitate this process smoothly, we’re ensuring that the competition filter in the burning feature is fully operational before initiating the Buy-Back.

Compensations 💰

Compensations will primarily be in UNA tokens, with the potential for a supplementary MGC token allocation for a more equitable valuation.

Compensations will be processed on a weekly basis (roughly), as soon as we kick off the Buy-Back phase, and will end when each respective league’s season kicks off.

2. Pricing Criteria

The buy-back process is a complex endeavor as we want to ensure that you receive the fairest possible compensation for your cards.

It means valuing your cards as accurately as possible.

Main Criteria

The main criteria will be the marketplace average price for cards that had more than 3 cards traded in the last 6 months on the marketplace.

Secondary Criteria

Some cards were not traded that many times and it’s therefore harder to value them correctly.

We are currently working on a simulation coupling the following:

• Score
• Age
• Club / League

We created indexes for these three criteria and checked the marketplace average price for each.

In turn, creating modifiers that help us define estimated values for cards that weren’t necessarily traded yet.

We are also considering additional criteria at the moment and refining those values.

I hope everyone understands that it’s a dense effort. It takes time because we’re dedicated to doing it in a fair manner.

Price Changes

Once we set a final price for an athlete it will not change, even if the athletes circumstances change (such as moving club, or leaving the league).

This is to ensure all Mangers receive the same compensation for the same athlete, and you can feel safe burning every eligible card as soon as the process kicks off.

3. Eligibility

Eligible

Athletes who are under contract for a club in the leagues of Virsliga, Veikkausliiga, or Besta Deildin at any point between the 4th of January and the start date of the buyback process. Athletes that join a team will be added, but athletes that leave during the period will continue to receive full refunds.

This also includes athletes who are currently on loan to an uncovered league.

Not Eligible

• Athletes who have ended their careers.
• Athletes who are playing for clubs that are relegated.
• Any other athlete who is currently not under contract with a club of the three respective leagues.
• Athletes who have permanently moved to a league which is covered within Ultimate Champions.

If an athletes is not covered but might be later, be sure to hold the card!

4. Key dates

We aim to kickstart the buy-back phase mid-February. This is a tentative date, an ETA, not a definitive one.

The buy-back phase will end for each league’s athletes when each respective league’s season kicks off:

• Virsliga: 20.03.24 (to be confirmed)
• Veikkausliiga: 06.04.24
• Besta Deildin: 06.04.24

The next step will be to share with the community the exact compensation amount for each athlete of the 3 leagues.

This will be shared before we start the buy-back process to ensure that we can engage in a back-and-forth dialogue with the community, incorporating their feedback.

It’s crucial that we get this important step for Ultimate Champions right. We know it’s a lengthy process, but we’re dedicated to making the right move.
