Production Update — May 22
There have been quite a few questions about what is happening this summer in Ultimate Champions. We are focusing on the following core objectives, in this order:
- Signing new clubs from leagues that are active during the summer
- Improving the current game and implementing new core features
- Introducing a new simple way of keeping some activity in the game and onboard new players
1. Summer Clubs
We wanted to reinforce that our first priority is to sign Clubs that will be active this summer. It is currently too soon to reveal anything but it is looking promising!

2. Game Roadmap, what’s ahead?
Another main priority for us is to keep improving the game in order to be fully ready for the start of the new european 22/23 season.
2.1 New features for the start of the 22/23 season
On top of fixes(for the Marketplace for example), stability and other minor improvements on existing features, we plan to release the following major features before the new season starts:
The Tournaments game mode, which will add new opportunities for players to register more teams and earn additional rewards. It will also add an additional clear utility for rare Ultimate Cards.
A responsive mobile UI for mobile gameplay and tutorial objectives in order to onboard new players the best way possible.
We will also release three additional features in the coming days / weeks!

Introducing: KYC!
We have multiple objectives with the release of our KYC feature:
- Protect our existing players and the value of their collections by preventing any possible multi-accounting
- Maintain an eco-system in which legitimate free-to-play players can progress and earn
- Maintain an easy onboarding of the game where KYC is not a blocker to start playing
To that end, we decided to require KYC verification from players for the following game actions:
- Claim rewards containing either NFT Ultimate Cards (Epic / Mythic / Unique) or $CHAMP tokens
- Buy Packs in MGC that contain NFT Ultimate Cards (e.g.: Jumbo Pack requires it when Basic Pack does not)
- List Ultimate Cards on the marketplace
Deployment ETA: between May 20th and May 25th
A long awaited feature: Substitutes!
Teased for a long time by our in-game UI — Substitutes will be added in Ultimate Champions very soon!
The mechanics of this feature will be quite straightforward:
- 3 substitute spots will be available to fill when building a team
- If an athlete in your main team does not play, the score of a substitute with the same position will be taken into account instead
Deployment ETA: between May 30th and June 3rd
3. Introducing: Virtual Gameweeks!
To spice things up while we finalise the signing of new clubs for this summer, we will introduce Virtual Gameweeks to the game— a new type of gameweek where you will be able to build teams using your knowledge of the past season and earn rewards even if there are no football matches in real life.
Disclaimer: Virtual Gameweeks will be a side-activity compared to real Gameweeks, will have lower rewards, won’t become the core of the game and are just a fun additional way to test season long knowledge for players.
It is in our DNA to make things fun so we went for something a bit special!
How does it work?
For each virtual gameweek, we will announce in advance a list of matches each involving two teams from our existing domestic leagues (e.g.: Premier League, Championship, Ligue 1, etc.) exactly like a normal gameweek.
Once the virtual gameweek starts, the virtual matches will be played one by one at various times. The virtual gameweek score of each athlete will then be calculated the following way:
- For each team 3 matches will be selected at random from the 2021–2022 season
- Each athlete’s action score (from Goals / Shots on targets / Interceptions / etc) will be the average of the scores they obtained in the 3 matches selected
- On top of defining athlete’s individual scores, those averages will define the ‘Club actions’ (amount of goals scored / conceded by a team) for the team and ultimately the outcome of the virtual match!
- The winning team will get 20% bonus points
Note: We recognize that the increased difficulty of picking which athletes have been active from an entire season of games will bring down the average scores with one or multiple DNPs being likely, which we counteract with the ‘winning team’ bonus.
The better a team performed during the season the higher the chance for athletes to have performed well in the 3 selected games, but the match-up will also have a key role in the outcome!
Virtual matches will not be registered in the data history of athletes and will not impact their season stats, they will only exist during the virtual gameweek.
We are still at an early stage of development and we would love to hear your feedback on this concept to keep discussing it with the community.

4. $CHAMP release and withdrawals
Some key information about our upcoming Token release:
- We will release the $CHAMP token directly on an exchange with associated liquidity.
- We will not do the Initial Dex Offering we were planning initially with Thorstarter as our plans have changed. More details coming soon on that topic.
ETA
As you know releasing a token is a delicate operation and it is crucial for us to release it in correct market conditions.
Another key point is to build up our communication around the token release to make sure the release resonates with as many play-to-earn lovers as possible.
For those reasons we are aiming to release the token during the month of July.
